Our Story
Jane and Tory had been lifelong creatives and always wanted to work as a mother-daughter business team.
When heartache challenged them in 2015 with the passing of Tory’s father, Jane’s husband of over 50 years, followed shortly by the passing of their dog, Pete, both from cancer.
With their life brought to a standstill by grief, Jane and Tory saw an opportunity to work together and make the world a healthier place. Toxins in our environment contributed to the cancers that had taken their loved ones.
With Teller Hill, Jane and Tory are determined to reduce this exposure for pets and their people so that others won’t suffer the same heartache.
Teller Hill is Tory and Jane’s response to the appalling amount of plastics used in the pet industry. With a lifetime of being dog moms and sewing, they knew that they could make eco-friendly and high-quality accessories for their pets that wouldn’t expose them to all the toxins found in plastics. Teller Hill’s hemp-based products have allowed them to achieve this goal.
Walking the Eco Friendly Walk:
Teller Hill is committed to its mission to get single use plastic out of the pet industry, one hemp collar at a time. Tory and Jane have raised their families on the leave no trace motto and strive to do the same with their business.
How?
In 2017, Teller Hill switched over to using solar power.
In 2018, Tory and Jane launched their Pay It Forward program, sharing gently used collars with local shelters to help reduce products in the waste stream
In 2019, Teller Hill developed the Hardware Rescue Program to help customers keep their collars out of the waste stream. Customers can send back their old Teller Hill collars to have the hardware reused on their new ones, making the Earth a better place and giving customers a discount on their next collar!
